Tullio Dell Aquila

Tullio Dell Aquila is head of new product development and founding partner of Aquatic Research and Development in Utica, New York. ARAD is an OEM manufacturer and developer of aquarium products currently specializing in advanced solid state lighting systems and other lighting products. Tullio has spent over a decade focusing on the importance of proper lighting and filtration techniques in our aquariums and developing much of the technology they are now producing today.

Tullio has been an avid saltwater/reef aquarium hobbyist for over fifteen years. With an extensive technical background, he initially set out to improve his own natural aquarium systems by researching, testing, and developing products, along with studying the benefits of holistic approaches to aquarium keeping for hobbyist. He left the retail industry many years ago to continue his work and started his first company Aquatic Research and Supply which did independent product testing for various companies in our industry. After years of testing and helping to develop products for other companies he partnered up with Joe Catadoris and Andy Cleary both highly accredited in the manufacturing industries and formed Aquatic Research and Development a full line product manufacturing company.

Among his numerous accomplishments is the 2001 Northeast Council of Aquarium Societies' award for both best article on his super bacteria theory and best column "Today's Reef Aquarium" in the Brooklyn Aquarium Society publication "Aquatica".
