Born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1966, Marc, at a young age, moved to Austria, Belgium, and Angola following his parents' business. Attending school in South Africa, he attained a master's degree in electrical engineering. Lamont served in the military for several years before starting a database services company in London. After retiring from the business world in 2002 he took up seahorse propagation and has been conducting extensive research in the area of breding and raising of seahorses.
