CAROL COZZI-SCHMARR

Carol Cozzi-Schmarr is the President and co-owner of Ocean Rider, Inc in Hawaii. Ocean Rider is a 3.5 acre farm that has been producing farm-raised seahorses and accessories on a large scale since 1999. Carol has come to the world of sea horse farming from the world of commercial shrimp hatcheries in Central and South America where she lived and worked for over 10 years.

Carol has a bachelors degree in biology and did her post graduate work on aquaculture at San Diego State University. Carol moved to Hawaii after college where she has worked in the aquaculture industry and for the Waikiki Aquarium with Director Bruce Carlson. Carol met and married Craig, her Australian husband, while living in Ecuador. They then moved to Costa Rica to manage a large shrimp hatchery.

After many years of work and travel around the world they decided to bring their aquaculture expertise to the world of seahorse farming with the start of their farm in Hawaii. Their mission is: to provide people with beautiful and fun pets so they can enjoy the treasures of the ocean in their living room thereby increasing their awareness of the ocean and its fragile environment thus helping to conserve and protect it.
